
Prof. Weasley Daniel Nafarnda
Professor Wesley Daniel Nafarnda is a staff of the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Abuja, Nigeria. A Nigerian, born on 3rd October 1968. He is a distinguished academic in Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine. An analytical, proactive, resourceful, and open-minded professional, he has over 30 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy, and training. His expertise spans Epidemiology, Zoonoses, Food Hygiene, Environmental Health, Emerging and Transboundary Diseases, Biostatistics, Research Methods, and Biological Risk Management.
Professor Nafarnda has an extensive consulting portfolio, including engagements with: Palladium Group (Nigeria): Partnership to Engage, Reform, and Learn (PERL), Regional Disease System Enhancement Project (REDISSE), Nigerian Government, African Union-Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), Africa Centers for Disease Control (Africa CDC), FAO, World Bank and World Health Organisation.
An experienced manager of multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams, Professor Nafarnda underwent two years of leadership training under the Rockefeller Foundation's Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) program. He is also a Certified Professional in Biological Risk Management and a recognized trainer in this field.

SERVICOM NODAL Officer (Director, University SERVICOM Unit). Member, Veterinary Council of Nigeria and member of the 9th Governing Council of the University of Abuja. Board Member of the Center for Public Education and Mobilization for Development in Nigeria (CEPAD) and other organizations.
Professor Nafarnda began his career as a Veterinary Officer with the defunct Gongola State Government and the Adamawa State Government. He later joined the Adamawa State College of Agriculture as a lecturer and research officer.
Currently a professor at the University of Abuja, he is a Fellow of the Leadership for Environment and Development, Rockefeller foundation, Fellow of the College of Veterinary Surgeons of Nigeria and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Clinical and Academic Researchers of Nigeria. He has received numerous research grants, awards and authored over 100 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as contributed to published book chapters. He has supervised over 30 postgraduate theses at Master’s and Ph.D. levels.
His professional affiliations include: Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Nigerian Biological Safety Association of Nigeria, Society for Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (SOSEH), West African Network of Natural Products Research Scientists and Nigeria Environmental Summit Group (NESUG).
